Ticks
Ticks are arthropods that are closely related to mites and spiders. They are commonly found in tall grasses and prairies, shrubs, and brush, leaf litter, rotten logs or stumps, wooded areas, and their edges, areas of lawn adjacent to woods or fields, and stone walls and woodpiles where small mammals live.
Ticks are among the most important of all arthropod vectors of disease. They harbor and transmit various pathogens, including protozoa, viruses, and bacteria. The pathogens enter the tick when the tick obtains a blood meal from an infected host. If the pathogen is able to survive and develop in the tick, it may later be transmitted to humans and cause disease.
Ticks are responsible for at least nine different known diseases in humans in the United States, including Lyme disease, which is the most commonly reported vector-borne illness, with approximately 300,000 cases reported per year. If caught early enough, recovery is usually quick. If treatment is not immediately received, infection can spread to other body parts and cause chronic, severe medical issues.
Management of tick populations is essential to minimize the risks of tick-borne disease. We have designed an integrated tick management plan that creates a tick-safe zone for your landscape and prevents ticks from your yard.
Mosquitoes
Mosquitoes are small flying insects that affect people and animals in many different ways. They disrupt outdoor work and recreational activities, and their bites often cause mild allergic reactions such as swelling and itching.
Mosquitos can breed in small areas of standing water such as containers, gutters, tree holes, rot cavities, or any place where small amounts of water are left standing for days. Weeds, tall grass, and shrubbery provide an outdoor home for adult mosquitoes, which may enter houses through unscreened windows or doors.
Mosquitoes are the most important insect pests that affect the health and well-being of humans and domestic animals worldwide. They can cause various health problems due to their ability to transfer viruses and other disease-causing pathogens. Annually, mosquitoes affect millions of people by transmitting the pathogen of several serious diseases.
Mosquito control requires knowledge of the behavioral and habitat differences among species in order to plan and carry out a treatment program. Our treatments are based on mosquitoes’ life cycle and are designed to offer you effective control and a mosquito-free yard.
